How I Survived the First Trimester: 8 Products That You Need ASAP

When that positive pregnancy test appeared for the THIRD baby, I had no idea the first trimester would hit me like a freight train… because it never had before. Boy this pregnancy has been different! We were going to wait to tell our families but my constant nausea had people suspicious much sooner this pregnancy. Between the relentless morning sickness (which, let’s be honest, is more like all-day sickness) and the complete energy drain (while raising 2 toddlers), I felt like I was barely surviving.

After three pregnancies, I’ve finally mastered my first trimester survival kit, and these products have been absolute game-changers in managing pregnancy nausea and keeping me functioning during those challenging early weeks. My first trimester essentials became my constant companions during this roller coaster of early pregnancy.

ESSENTIALS for First Trimester Success

Nausea:

  1. Hard Candy Nausea Drops – These puppies became my purse staples for sudden waves of nausea.
  2. The only prenatal I didn’t get sick from! Liquid was much more approachable than a pill when nauseas or throwing up.

Sleep:

  1. The Hatch Restore was a Christmas gift and it has been the gift that keeps on giving. This alarm clock has a night time routine helps me turn my brain off amidst the pregnancy madness while the morning sunlight alarm starts my day off with peace before the chaos.
  2. Pregnancy pillow. I’m telling you the belly POPS early with baby #3 and this pillow was necessary early on!
  3. Magnesium mist! This was a new find this pregnancy after reading tons of new research on magnesium and rest.

Nutrition:

It has been SO hard to eat anything nutritious this pregnancy – all protein sounds horrible. These are the protein supplements I’ve been stocking up on that don’t nauseate me at the mention of their name!

  1. Flavorless collagen – mix in warm liquid like tea or lemon water (18g protein per serving!)
  2. Protein ‘milk‘ in my coffee!
  3. WATER… keeping my huge Stanley close but always adding flavor helped me stay hydrated. I used hydration drops, splashes of juice and cut up fruit to help get the water down!

When it came to managing my dwindling energy levels during the first trimester, certain products became non-negotiables.

Remember, every pregnancy is different, but having these first trimester essentials on hand can make those challenging early weeks much more manageable.
